Seattle Has their Heads in the Cloud
by Wunderman
Seattle, July 12, 2011—In the heart of hi-tech country in the Pacific Northwest, Wunderman Seattle begins the first wave of migration to Office 365 for Exchange, Microsoft’s cloud-based system that gives users access to their email, calendar, and contacts from almost anywhere at any time.
The team in Seattle is forging the way as Wunderman embraces the cloud and all it has to offer their crew of always-on marketing and technology pros. Once the migration to Office 365 for Exchange is completed, Wunderman staffers will have 25 gigabytes of email storage space, enough to hold up to seven years’ worth of email for the typical user, virtually eliminating the need to archive. The Office 365 webmail interface is another significant upgrade—because it behaves just like Outlook, users won’t take a productivity hit when accessing email from the road. And best of all from the vantage point of the agency’s handful of Mac users, Office 365 finally brings Outlook to the Mac.
Over the next two weeks, three “cloud pioneers” from Wunderman Seattle will share their experiences as they migrate to and begin using Office 365 for Exchange.
Bhu Bains works at Wunderman Seattle on the agency’s social and mobile marketing programs, and as a self-described “mobile zealot,” she’s got more than a passing interest in seeing Office 365 take hold. When she’s not helping Wunderman’s clients use emerging media to market their products and win new devotees, Bhu is usually found traveling the globe or shopping for shoes—or both at the same time. Josh Bullard works on Wunderman’s Global Team, which connects the agency’s account teams in the 52 countries where it works with Microsoft worldwide. In his spare time Josh makes the most of the outdoors lifestyle the Pacific Northwest has to offer, spending most weekends snowboarding or shopping for gear at REI’s flagship store, which just happens to be across the street from Wunderman Seattle’s digs. Jessica Carmen works in Wunderman’s IT department as the Operations and Compliance Specialist, and she has been leading the charge to get the Seattle agency moved over to Office 365. She’s been working the past few weekends to make sure every user’s migration to the new system would be painless, whether they’re on a Windows 7 machine or a Mac, whether they access Outlook on a Windows Phone or some other kind of smartphone. In the days and weeks to come, you’ll hear about Office 365 from this insider’s point of view. Once the migration is complete, Jessica will be spending her well-earned free time white-water rafting and restoring classic cars. Follow Jessica’s tweets: @jessicalcarmen
