Wunderman Puts the Spotlight on Young Creatives at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2011

NEW YORK, June 17, 2011—The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is where the rules of advertising are made and the next chapter is written. Wunderman is taking a lead role in developing the next generation of marketers by hosting The Cannes Creative Academy of Young Marketers as well as sending 40+ of its youngest creatives from around the world to attend seminars and workshops. Outside of the “classrooms” the young Wunderkinder will serve as “reporters” posting daily comments on the comings and goings in Cannes via WundermanReports.com.  Speakers including Wunderman chairman and CEO Daniel Morel, ZAAZ’s Jason Burby and Wunderman EMEA’s Simon Silvester will deliver their provocative and insightful views.

WundermanReports.com

40 young creatives. 40 fresh opinions on the industry. Delivered daily.

WundermanReports.com will provide a diverse global perspective from the young rising stars of tomorrow, getting their take on the Festival. The young pundits will speak to the newsmakers at the Festival, covering all the highlights from inside the Palais to the streets of the Croisette! WundermanReports.com will be available via wundermanreports.com, and through Haymarket publications Brand Republic in the UK and Direct Marketing News in the United States.

The Wunderman team will be joined by the winners of Wunderman’s Z AcademySM Marketer of the Year 2021 competition held in April: Sybil Mulokwa and Brandon Viney of VCU Brandcenter in Virginia, and Alvin Wee and Liat Beng Neo of Nanyang Tech University in Singapore.

The Cradle of Ideas: Cannes Creative Academy of Young Marketers

Wunderman is sponsoring a groundbreaking program that brings together agency and client to explore the possibility and potential of creativity in advertising. Led by “Dean” Jim Stengel (former Global Marketing Officer of P&G), students will spend an intensive week looking at how creativity shapes brands. The program, open to anyone under 30 working for a client company, features speakers from a range of creative disciplines and hands-on workshops each forming a high-quality, focused learning program that delivers real value.

How to Dominate the World!

Simon Silvester (executive planning director, Wunderman EMEA) has forged a reputation as being one of the most thought provoking speakers at the Cannes Festival. This year he will be joined on stage by the equally dynamic Jason Burby (chief analytics & optimization officer, ZAAZ). Together, they’ll spell out HOW TO DOMINATE THE WORLD by building a global brand in the 2010s.

Today the opinions of the seven out of eight humans who live in Brazil, Russia, India, China and other rapidly growing non-Western countries are becoming increasingly more important than those of the one in eight who live in America and Western Europe.

During the session participants will be split into groups and assigned a global brand. They will then be asked how they would adapt it to a 2010s world, which looks nothing like the middle-American suburb it was designed for.

Each participant will receive a FREE copy of the new 100-page Wunderman book How to Dominate the World.
