As global client lead for Team Microsoft and managing director of Wunderman Seattle, Kass Sells leads far-reaching and comprehensive relationship marketing programs for one of the world’s most important and well-known companies and brands. He’s successful because to him, the first key to success is building meaningful and lasting human connections; the second is never taking your eye off the business outcomes being driven by the work.
For Microsoft, Kass directs a team of 900 people worldwide. On his watch, Microsoft consolidated its global relationship marketing work with Wunderman as its single RM agency of record. He credits the team’s success to an unwavering commitment to its core principles, i.e., embracing the concept that all relationships are local; shared accountability, operational excellence, innovation and creativity; focus on business outcomes; and being Microsoft’s best business partner.
Also on his watch, the scope and scale of the Microsoft account grew substantially and now includes the localization and deployment of all Microsoft advertising campaigns worldwide. This continued growth is powered by some of the marketing world’s most innovative and compelling campaigns for brands such as Windows, Windows Phone, Windows Server and Tools, Office, Xbox, Zune, MSN and Bing.
Since joining Wunderman in 2007, Kass added T-Mobile to Seattle’s client roster and he continues to deploy the considerable resources across the Wunderman network to deepen the relationships between T-Mobile and its customers.
A member of the 4A’s, Kass is a thought leader in the advertising community. His perspectives have gained recognition in high-prestige competitions, including British Design and Art Direction, Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival and the Effies.
Kass studied communication at the University of Washington and remains active in Seattle’s higher education community as a board member of the Bellevue College Foundation. He is active in the 101 Club, a community-based organization that promotes amateur athletics by providing scholarships for promising student athletes. An avid skier, Kass makes the most of the Pacific Northwest’s natural beauty and outdoors lifestyle, and he occasionally manages to escape to the woods.
